Read This! Sold by Patricia Mccormick

This novel makes us all realize what a different life we have compared to those in other countries. This is The Color Purple, The Bluest Eye for today's generation in that it allows readers into a glimpse of the disenfranchised and ignored world of young girls around the world. This book is for MATURE reader as it concerns child prostitution.

From School Library JournalGrade 9 Up – As this heartbreaking story opens, 13-year-old Lakshmi lives an ordinary life in Nepal, going to school and thinking of the boy she is to marry. Then her gambling-addicted stepfather sells her into prostitution in India. The spare, unadorned text matches the barrenness of Lakshmis new life.

What I'm reading now....

I'm reading Scott Westerfeld's series that started with the book Uglies. I read Uglies, then Pretties, and am now reading Special Circumstances. The front covers make them look like Gossip Girl books, but I would actually categorize them more along the lines of science fiction. Westerfeld creates a world where plastic surgery actually involves plastic- and is mandatory. These stories are full of action, futuristic technology (well, not that futuristic), and a little romance.
